FROII OtTE OWN CORRESPONDENT. Saturday. Tho local dramatic chit) performed her© to a crowded audience last night, many persons being present from Oliau, lianakaa, and AVulkanae. Tlio piece chosen was “Sweet Lavender/’ by A. W. Pinero, and on the whole the performance was creditable, although spoiled considerably by “stag© fright/’ several performers only being heard by the occupants of the orchestral stalls. Messrs Lyon, Hartmann, Altken, Skerman. Thompson, and Lanchester, and Mestlames Jones, Hath.waite. Bacchus. and Miss O'itaurke filled the various positions.
Yesterday afternoon Mr and Mr« W. H. Field were entertained at afternoon tea in the Druids’ Hall, when there was a large attendance of lady supporters. The time was spent enjoyably, and the dainty tea was much enjoyed. Mir Field was assured of hearty support on all sides on election day, and. on the occasion of tho uocorwi ballot.
