DESERTION & MISCONDUCT
PKOM PUB SPECIAL COKnESrO'xDEN'T. LONDON, October 20. If Mr Ddward Lindsey Pembroke is now in New Zealand, bo may be interested to learn that a decree nisi, with costs and custody, of his child, was granted to his wife by the Divorce Court judge a few days ago. The usual grounds of desertion and misconduct were brought forward by the plaintiff, and there was no defence. The evidence was that the marriage took place at Stroud Green in 1903, the husband being formerly a journalist, and now engaged in the mercantile marine. They lived together at Stondon Park, Brockley Rise, and other places, and had one child. In September, 1901, they went to Auckland, where they remained until 1906. In .November of that year, Mrs Lindsey Pembroke’s suspicions were aroused, and .when she taxed her husband ho confessed that he had been unfaithful within a week of their marriage. Previously the petitioner had had quarrels with her husband in regard to. his association with a typist in his employ, and - It was decided that the wife should return to this country. In May, 1907,- the petitioner had reason to complain of. respondent’s relations with a lady. Later she obtained a separation allowance, but .eubsequently was obliged to support herself as a milliner and a nurse. - . •
