The steamer Himitangi left Wanganui at 10 a.m. yesterday for Wellington. She called at Kapiti Island on her way, and a visit will be made to Terawhiti if the weather will permit. Tho coastal steamer Wairau was to have left Pnponga yesterday for Wanganui. The vessel will subsequently load timber at Blackball for Wellington, and is due here about Saturday. Tho Canterbury Company’s steamer Breeze, due at Wellington at midday today from Lyttelton, is to sail at 3 p.m. today for Wanganui. The Holmdale arrived at Gisborne on Monday night from Greymouth. She is to sail to-morrow with a load of cattle for Greymouth. At tho latter port the Holmdale will load timber for Lyttelton. Tho coastal steamer Defender, which left Wellington yesterday for Karamea. is duo back at Wellington about Saturday. Mr I». McMurrich joined the Mapourlka as second engineer yesterday. Tho auxiliary scow Echo arrived at Blenheim on Monday with a load of timber from Karamea. Tho Flora is to leave Westport at 5 p.m. to-day for Wellington with a full load of coal. She is to proceed subsequently to Greymouth. Tho small auxiliary ketch Jane, which left Wellington a few days ago for the Sounds, put back to an anchorage at tho Wellington entrance to tho *outh of the Pinnacles at 12.50 p.m. yesterday. A heavy westerly in Cook Strait prevented the little craft from putting to last evening. Messrs W. M. Bannatyne and Co. advise that henceforth tho coastal steamer/Nikau will leave Wellington at 1 p.m. on Saturdays, instead of at 5 p.m., for Nelson and Motueka. The coastal steamer Mangapapa. left Karamea yesterday afternoon for Westport and Wellington. She is due here early to-morrow-, and is to sail on the return trip at 5 p.m. to-morrow. The strong westerly wind yesterday necessitated tho postponement of tho tug Terawhiti'a departure for Westnort with the barque Mataura in tow. While preparing for the tow in the stream the Terawhiti met with an accident to her deck gear which will require repairs before she can proceed with tho tow. The Mainland Company’s steamer Lauderdale left Newcastle on Saturday night with a cargo of coal for Adelaide. The coastal steamer Gertie was floated off the sand spit near the Manawatu bar yesterday at noon, and was assisted up to Foxton by the Queen of tho South. Tho Gertie is to have her damaged rudder ternporarily fixed up in order to come to Wellington for repairs. The Government steamer -Hlncmoa- left Russell at midday yesterday for Whangaroa, Manganu! and Cape Maria lighthouse, in continuation of her round trip to the northern lighthouses. The Poherua is to sail from Wellington at 5 p.m. to-day for Greymouth. The iCoromiko is to leave Westport at 4 p.m. to-day for Wellington, and after discharge of her cargo of coal will return to Westport.
