AN ATTEMPTED MURDER AND A SUICIDE. By Telegraph—Tress Association—Copyright (Received November 28, 10.10 p.m.) BRISBANE, November 28. A sensational incident occurred at Mackay, 625 miles north-west of Brisbane. A Mrs Waters and her daughter were waiting at the Mackay railway station when a man named Schupp arrived, and urged the daughter to fulfil an alleged premise of marriage. She refused, whereupon Schupp drew a revolver and shot the girl twice. He fired harmlessly at a man who pursued him, and then shot himself dead.

The girl’s wounds are not serious
