UNREQUITED LOVE
LADY AND HONEY BOTH GONE
A peculiar case occupied the attention, of Dr. A. McArthur, S.M., at..the Magistrate's Court yesterday. It appeared that a commercial traveller, who was shortly to be married, loft the sum of £ltl with his lover, instructing her to put it into tho savings bank for him. This she agreed to do. Several months afterwards she withdrew some of the money to pay for a matter she bad been concerned in at Christchurch, leaving a balance of ,£BS 10s in tho bank. This was without tho knowledge of the young man, but when it came to his ears he forgave the lady for what sho had done. Tho other day the man went to his fiancee’s lodgings to see the lady, but was informed that the woman had married another person that very day and had left the town. Subsequently tho traveller found that not only had his lover decamped with another" man, but had taken his £BS 10« and some £7 3s Gd worth of his personal belongings as well. Hence the action. An order was made that the £BS 10s should ho repaid to the plaintiff.
