Ted iliil's four made a gallant effort to retrieve tho fiosuion, beating tlie veteran Harnett by t'B to 18, but victory remained with tho visitors by 06 to 86.
A\ hen replying to tho toast of "Th© Christchurch Bowling Club," at the "smoker" given in honour of the visitors on Saturday, Mr Burnett made a remark' which is worthy of nolo. lie strongly dexn-ocatod the over lavi-.h. outenainment ox visitors. Hospitality was a very admirable characteristic, but no good purpose could bo achieved by clubs trying outvie each other in this respect. What ho would like to see was “Jess entertainment and more bowling."
A fow of the Christchurch howlers in Messrs Inkson, Quin, Chergwyn, and Mo Dougail, remained after tne rest of th© team had returned home. These played a Te itiwl four, who were narrowly beaten, after being in the lead for J 8 heads. Then Newtown was tackled, but here tho visitors’ victorious career was checked, as well it might be, when on© learns that the Newtown team was Wylie, McLean, Brice, and Brine© (skip), as hot a quartet as one could find in 'Wellington.
Newtown will meet Pctono This afternoon in tho senior pennants. Nothing has been left to chance, Alessrs Brine©, Wylie, Brice, and Brackonridgo skipping four very strong teams, and Botonc will havo to bo up and doing to avoid defeat. The Hutt Club will play Kelburno this afternoon. Karori will have a friendly two-rink match with Eastbourne.

The latter club has a rather large proportion of Wednesday players, and, with a Feathers team away at the Hutt, it meant that nearly every available man had to lie played. Thorndon sent two very strong rinks skipped by Kerr and Munro to tho hill, and these had a big majority. On the Thorndon green Jackman also won decisively, but Robicson's team was narrowly boa ten.-by Mawsonfs-.- four, • who, played well.
To-day the Thorndon players will tackle Wellington, and this should give rise to a keen, battle. Tho latter are
