STUD NOTICES. TO STAND THE SEASON. H Jvt*> The Thoroughbred Stallion. LAKES (1906). LAKES is a black horse by Clytus, a eon cf the great Prince Charlie horse Lcchie], whose progeny have won more than AIOO.OOO in states, from Housewife (dam <if Penates), by Archie. (her dam Thimble, by Cheviot (imp.), from Lady Blair (imp.), by Blair Athol (winner of the Derby and St. Leger), by Stockwell (winner of the Two Thousand Guineas and St. Leger). Lares is a splendidly built horse, showing great power and .quality. He has been tried and has proved an undoubted success, beating a first-class field last spring meeting at Blenheim. He has been unable to fulfil his engagements through throwing his shoo and contracting a bruised toot prior to the recent meeting at Wellington. The owner has decided to give him this season at the stud to enable a complete and morn rapid recovery. Ho comes of a great running blood, training to that emperor of stallions, Stockwell. on both sides of his pedigree. Lares is a half brother to Penates, a big winner, and is sure to get good stack. Being of Australian stock, an excellent ipportunity is here presented for those lesiring a change of blood.
