Tho lock-out that was threatened at tho Gate field Mill, Burnley, Lancashire, where tho operatives gave notice of their intention to go out owing to tho refusal of two non-unionists to join the union, has been avoided, tho nonunionists agreeing to join tho union. STRIKE ON DUTCH TRAWLERS. ENGINEERS AVANT INCREASED PAY. THE HAGUE, October 10. Tho engineers on forty trawlers have struck for an increase of pay. AMERICAN RAILWAY DISPUTE. BOILERMAKERS AND MACHINISTS GO OUT. WINNIPEG, October 10. • Tho boilermakers and machinists of tho Grand Trunk Pacific Railway struck to-day. Three hundred and fifty men aro affected. Negotiations for a settlement have been pending for two months, but have not matured. The men seek a nine-hour day, and an increase of wages. MOUNT LYELL STRIKE. EMPLOYERS AGREE TO ANOTHER CONFERENCE. (Received October 13, 0.5 a.m.) MELBOURNE, October 11. Tho representatives of the Mount Lyoll Company havo intimated that they will meet tho delegates of tho Employees’ Association in conference in connection . with the strike.
