At Addington entries of stock vre» somewhat larger than last week and there was a good attendance. There was'a mixed yarding of store sheep, and the mini bars showed an increase over those of recent sates. There was a good attendance of buyers, and the present rapid growth of food caused an improved demand. ITices generally '.vote firmer except for aged owes wiln lambs which, in several cases, failed to reach owners- reserve. Forward wethers made 17s 3d to ISs, others Us (Id to las 7d, two, four and six-looth ewes witli lambs made Us 5d to Us Bd, six-tooth owes with lambs 12s Id, mixed ages Us fd, and aged sorts t>s Gd to 8s Act, all qounted in each ease; good wether hoggets 13s to Us, average linos of mixed sexes 13s to 13s 10d, smaller 10s 5d to 11s, average linos of owe hoggets to 14i lOd, extra to 10s, and small 11s Sd.

The entry of fat lambs totalled only OS, as compared with 103 last week. The lambs were, well grown and of good quality and there was a keen demand, prices showing a considerable improvement. Best lambs made 17s Id to 225, and smaller Us 9d to ICs yd.

The yarding of fat sheep was somewhat larger than last week, .and was again chiefly made up of large lines of good crossbred wethers from Southland. There was also a better entry of local sheep, including several pens of the first shorn sheep of the season. The market opened well, there being several outside buyers operating. Ibices were firmly maintained, but cased oft somewhat later on, sheep that were not quite prime not selling so well ,as last week. Tho range of prices was : —Extra prime wethers to 20s 3d, prim© 23s to 26s 4d, others 16s to 21s Gd, shorn wethers 14s lid to IGs, extra prime owes to 27s 3d, prime 19s to 23s lid, others 17s to ISs 6<l,' prime merino wethers 15s lid to 19$ Id, nog-gets 14s 9d to 19s Gd.

The entry of fat cattle totalled 280, or about 80 more than last week. The yarding was of good quality, the North. Island again contributing a largo poition. _ Tim bulk of the dressed cattle were in prime condition. There was a marked decline in the demand, and values receded by about 3d per 1001 b, and- a number of lots were passed, Stcors made £7 7s 6d to £ll, extra to £l3 10s. heifers ‘JIG 5s to £9 se, and dry cows £5 10s to .£3 ss, equal to 2Se to 32s for prime, 3Ts for extra, 23s to 25e 6d for medium, and 24s to 25s for cow and inferior per -1001 b. Veal calve* formed an average entry, though mostly small sorts, and made 4s 6d to 555, according to size and quality. Hawke's Bay steers made £lO 5s to £l3 10s, and Wanganui £ll 7s to £l3 Xss. Store cattle were generally of indifferent quality and condition. The better sorts met with an improved demand, Yearlings made 30s to 365, 15 to 18. months 40s to £2 7s Cd, two year steers £3 14s to £-1 7s 6d, two year heifers £3 18s to £3 15s, three year steers £6 13* 6d, three year heifers £4, dry cows 80s to £S, and dairy cows £3 10s to £?- ss.

Fat pigs wore in medinm supply and well finished animals met with a keen demand at advanced rates.- A fair entry of stores also sold well. Choppers made £3 10s to £4 2s 6d, large baconers 60s to 77s 6d, small 50s to 57s 6d, equal to Cd per lb; large porkers 42s 6d to 48s, smaller 35s to 40s, equal to 6id per lb; large stores 30s to 325, medium 22s to 2Ss, small sorts 12s to 16s, and wean err 10s to Ms.

BURNSIDE. DUNEDIN, October 11

There was a small yarding of fat cattle at Burnside to-day, 164 being penned. The. quality was fair, and owing to the short supply prices were firmer. Best bullocks realised £l2 to £l3 12s 6d, extra to £l4 15s, medium £lO to £lO 10s, inferior £8 to £9, best cows and heifers £8 10s to £9 10s, extra to £l3 2s 6d, medium £6 10s to £7 10s, inferior £5 to £5. 10s. Fat sheep—There was a large yarding, 4364 being brought forward. At the commencement of the sale prices were a shade easier than those ruling last week. Best wethers realised 22s to 245, extra 28s, medium 19s to 21s, inferior 17s to 18s, best ewes 22s to 235, extra 245, medium 17s to XSe, inferior 13s to 14s. Forty-six lambs were; yarded and sold at the rates ruling last week! Bigs—There was a fair yarding, and a good demand for all sorts. The annual report of the director! ol the Wairarapa Brick and Drainpipe Company, Carterton, says: —The volume of business has increased, by £556 during the year. Our stock bos also .increased by £495. “We are pleased to show a net profit of £345 10s 6d, and after writing off 5 per cent.' for depreciation of plant and buildings (£176 9s 8d),: payment : of directors' fees (£35 10s), we recommend paying a dividend l of 6 per cent., amounting to £lB9 14s on paid'up capital, and ask the authority of the shareholders to carry the balance to reserve account. "We purchased during the year a new pipe machine at a cost of £l3l. ' ' '
