(By “Staysail.") Tho boat harbour is beginning to look busy again, and is gradually resuming its summer appearance us the boats como off tho slip and return to their moorings. Last Sunday the Ethel (Messrs Cole Bros.) and Windward (Mr Ralph Millman) wero launched, and both boats are looking decidedly well after a thorough overhaul. Tho Ethel has also hail half a ton. more lead added to her keel. Itaweuc, Ailsa, and Tangiroa spent last Sunday at Lowry Bay. Tho clay was an ideal ono for sailing, a lovely full sail northerly prevailing throughout tho day, The season, so fax us tho Nort Nicholson Yacht Club and Saturday afternoons ore concerned, promises to bo exceptionally busy. As no doubt most yachtsmen arc aware, there are now only two classes, first and second. Tho programme comprises twelve races for each, class—twenty-four races in all. Under this season's racing conditions a boat will havo to race three times beforo sho cun win a prize, as the races have boon divided into groups, making four groups of throe races each. The prize will go to the yacht having the highest number of points to her credit. Points count us follows: First, 15 points; second, 12; third, 10; fourth, 0; fifth, S. Judging by tho increasing number of boats joining the club and also the enthusiasm of members, the racing should bo a great success. Evans Bay is getting quite a little fleet of its own. Messrs Pratts* and Messrs Christesons' new boats are now ready for launching, and the owners of tho Waitangi, Ngairo, Viking, and Patronus are all busy on tho finishing touches. Early Wellington yachtsmen will remember the old Maritana, that used to have some strenuous goes with tho Waitangi. The German Emperor’s yacht Meteor concluded a brilliant season on the Solent by capturing tho International Gold, Cup of tho Royal Victoria Yacht Club. Meteor’s other successes . were at the Royal London Yacht Club’s regatta (first day), at the R.Y.S. regatta (town prize), and at tho international regatta on tho second day; whilst second prizes were obtained on the concluding day of tho R.Y.S. regatta, and at the first day of tho international regatta, making altogether four first and two second prizes.
