A CHILIAN GOLDFIELD
ENCOURAGING ; REPORTS. By Telegraph—Press ; Association —Copyright. NEW YORK, September 24. Reuter’s Santiago do Chili correspondent reports that a goldfield has been discovered at Curepto, in the province of Talca, south of Santiago. Large quantities of gold in a pure state were obtained during the first week’s operations. Though the mineral wealth of Chill is very considerable, gold has not hitherto formed a groat proportion of it. The yield has been estimated at from 3000 to 4000 pounds per annum. The silver product is considerably larger.
