The Island Bay Lodge, U.A.OD,, held its first meeting in the new lodgeroom. There was a largo number of visitors present, including Bro. Collins, D.P., .No. 21 District; Bro. L. Boock, D.P., No. 2 District; officers and members ot Pride of Brooklyn Lodge, who wore paying an official visit, and several * members of Coronation Lodge. Bros. Mclntyre and Cuttriss were appointed to cooler with representatives of the other lodges m the district, to draw up rules governing the competition in , the conduct of the initiation cci emony, for tho gavel presented by Bro. Collins, D.P. .After the business of the evening a competition was held for a trophy presented by Bro. Newton; the subject being ‘Delivery of the V»A, Charge/'' Eleven members took part and tlio result was a very close contest, a difference of eleven marks covering tho first seven competitors, fiho trophy was won by Bro‘ Eyres (who gave an excellent-rendering-*of-the charge), Bro. Homy being second, and Bro. Cuttriss third. Next lodge night a return card and games tournament will be held with St. Hilda's Club. Tiie Wellington Working Men’s Club will hold its half-yearly meeting on Monday night.
