Alexander Gilmour was charged with having . on'August 2nd ’broken one! pane of glass, valued at 10s, the property of the City Corporation. Ho pleaded guilty. .Sub-lnspeotor Sheehan Mated that tho accused went into the tramways office after 10 pan. and commenced to argue with tho clerk. He then took up a bar of iron and attempted to assault the clerk, and in so doing broke tho pane of glass. Ho was an ex-motormau with a family of nine children, and, the subinspector believed, was in very poor cumatancesHo was fined 10s and ordered to. pay the damage'caused, together with witness’s expenses, Is, or three days’ imprisonment.' 1 - A DISORDERLY INEBRIATE.

Jolm Joyce pleaded guilty to drunkenness, to having assauited Constable Galbraith and to having made uso of obsoeno language. Sub-Inspector Sheehan stated that accused. while being arrested for drunkenness, kicked the constable and resisted so violently that assistance had to be obtained.- Ho also made uso of filthy language. On the first charge accused was .sentenced to twenty-one days’ imprisonment, on the second to seven days- and on the thin! to fourteen days, the sentences to ho concurrent. ALLEGED ASSAULT AND ROBBERY. William Lyndhurst, charged with having, on August 2nd, assaulted and robbed John Larmour of about JC2O in money', was remanded till August 9th. The.hearing was continued of the case in which Frederick Neil McVicar, boilermaker, of J’aparan a;, Jp'husonvillc, sued Ilyder Bros., butchers, of I’etone, for .WO, ns damages alleged to bo duo to plaintiff by defendants in connection with, the destruction of plaintilf’s horse after it had been gored by one of a mob of wild cattle owned by defendants. Mr C. It. appeared for plaintiff and Mr P. \V. Jackson for defendants.

Judgment was reserved. (Before Dr A. McArthur, S.M.) .SADDLERS DISAGREE.

He hearing was continued of the case in which Thomas McCall, saddler, of ■Wellington, sued P. K. Russell and Co., Ltd., saddlex's, Wellington, for A'l43 7s 9d as damages, payments made, expenses, etc., in connection with an arrangement made to purchase a business at Hunterville. The defendant counterclaimed for .£l9 special damages and £25 general, damages. Mr A. Blair appeared for plaintiff, and Mr C. K. Dis for defendant.
