PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES

At a dinner at tho Crystal Palace in connection with tne Festival of Empire athletic sports, Lord Desborough, who presided, jjrosentcd tho Lonsdale Cup to the Canadians, and also presented tho inter-Empiro medals. Ho congratulated the overseas representatives on coming thousands of miles to participate in the sports, and remarked that they were animated by the best feelings of sport. Ho announced that, in connection with tlio Olympic games of 1912, arrangements are being made for British, Aaistraiasian, Canadian, and South African teams to ■ train together in England, and to go to Stockholm, where tho games are to ha held, together, if; possible, as an Empire team. Mr R. Coombrss, of Sydney, manager of tho Australasian team, asked for Britain to reciprocate by sending a team to Australia.
