WOMEN EMIGRANTS
HINTS TO THE COLONIES SOME HUMANITARIAN SUGGESTIONS. Sy Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received July 14, 10 p.m.) LONDON, July U. Princess Christian and tho presidents of tho Women Workers’ Union, the British Women’s Emigration Association, tho Young Womens’ Christian Association and the Girls’ Friendly Society, have issued a circular offering suggestions to the overseas Governments respecting women emigrants. Tho suggestions are as follow : Selection of emigrants by responsible officials or reliable agencies. Emigrants to be under tho care of a State paid matron on the voyage. Each State to provide a reception homo and free board and lodgings for the immigrants for three days after their arrival. Officials to find situations for the immigrants with approved employers. Girls to bo allowed to return to tho hotels (the reception homes) during the intervals of service and to live there at a moderate charge. The State to appoint voluntary inspectors to visit girls during their first year of service.
