UPPER HUTT TOWN BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Upper Hutt Town Board was hold on Thursday evening Present—Commissioners Harrison (chairman), Benge, Eurroll, Quinn, Gibbons, Webb and Davis.
Considerable discussion took place as to the best means of forwarding the several works'in hand, particularly completing the Pine Avenue widening, and matters pertaining to the hotter maintenance of the main road, which in places was reported by thi working foreman to need serious attention. Owing to a resolution of the loan! the foreman, who had noted various repair'; as urccnt during the past storm je.rio'J, was unable to proceed without the d'vect sanction of £hc works committee It wo?, therefore, given to him as an instriftion that in future he should giro urgent attention to such .things (as complained of by commissioners and ratepayers). and submit a weekly report of them for the general information of commissioners.
The treasurer reported' a satisfactory financial showing, the amount already expended being clearly covered by the forthcoming haU-yearly rat© collection.
The chairman gave notice to move at next meeting in the direction of taking commute-* work nt the commencement of future meetings. *ho resolutions thereat to be: embodied as part, of the minutes , and procedure to l>e publicly submitted, which would obviate, as In the past, the necessity for the pres* and public’ to retire before iho conclusion of the meeting. / The (neroaohment of storm water upon private property was mentioned, with a view to future 'abatement wherever pos siblo.
