LYALL BAY IMPROVEMENTS

BATH-HOUSE PROPOSAL. A fortnight ago the City Council agreed to a recommendation by the finance committee that ,£2BOO bo spent in erecting a bath-house at Lyall Bay, the tramway department to bo charged with half the cost. Councillor Hindmarsh gave notice to rescind the decision, and the whole question was referred to the tramways committee. At last night's meeting of the council the tramways committee recommended the council to rescind the resolution as far as the proposed charge on the tramways committee was concerned, as the members were of opinion that the expense could not bo incurred by the department under present circumstances. “If the building is to be erected," concluded the report, “the committee recommended that the matter he referred to the finance committee for a report as to ways and means." , The committee's recommendations were agreed to without discussion.
