BETTER SELECTION OFFERED. BRISK COMPETITION AT OPENING BATES. 3y Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, July 12. At the wool sales 4970 bales were catalogued, including 4171 bales from New Zealand. The offerings consisted of a poor selection. There Was a large attendance of buyers and animated competition. As compared with the May sales, merinos were unchanged in ijriee, greasy crossbreds showed a decline of from par to 5 per cent., and slips 7$ per cent. At the wool sales on the second day a better selection, was offered, and. there was brisk general com,petition at opening rates. PRICES OF NEW ZEALAND CLIPS (Received Jnly 14, 12.50 a.m.) LONDON, July 13. The following are the prices realised for the fleece portion of the clips named;— Eaitepai top price lid, average Old, Okare Bd. Kaputone top price 17(d, average ISJd, Braemar fop price 22id, average 22dMessrs Hurray, Roberts, and Co., Ltd., received the following message from Messrs Sanderson. Murray, and Co., dated London, July 12th:—“The market for merino -wool shows no material change.''
