Under the system worked out by Dieut.Colouel Will, medical inspection of the local Territorials has been proceeding apace every evening (Sunday excepted) since Friday last. The Garrison Hall has presented a busy scene, scores of young men being -gathered in orderly array for the teat, -which is conducted by a staff of eighteen, including seven medr cal men. The work is bo judiciously divided under Colonel Will's scheme that “patients" can he put through at the rate of twq per minute. So smoothly and quickly does the, system work that 1700 youths had been accomplished up to Wednesday evening. The cadets are not rejected unless very palpably unfit, for the reason that tho physical training wiu j)rovo beneficial to them; but for the Territorials the test is more exacting, for reason that they must be fit for service, and training of tho unfit would mean needless exnense. Out of 1700 examined about 100 have boon rejected, but of these some, by reason of temporary deficiencies—a broken arm, for.example—have been merely exempted for one year, The tests so far have disclosed a largo proportion of deplorably bad teeth.
