NEW DISTRICT FOR HAWKE’S BAY,

In consequence of the authorisation last session of the construction of a section of the East Coast railway from the Napier end, it is proposed to subdivide the Wellington public works district, which at present includes Hawks’s Bay, making that province a separate district. Mr S. H. Harding, resident engineer in charge of Nelson distinct, has been selected to take charge of the new district, and the survey work necessary on the route of the proposed lino will be under his control. .
