CLYDESDALES FOR NEW ZEALAND

FROM OWE special coebespondent LONDON, May 26. Mi J. W. Harding, of Mount Vernon, Woipukurau, in shipping by the Bnabine, Which sails from London on Juno Bth, four fine Clydesdales, There has been a feeding in Now Zealand of late tint the Clydesdale was getting too light, so in choosing his quartette Mr Harding has kept steadily in view the fact that weight combined with quality is wanted in Dio Dominion. The four animals ho fa shipping by the Hoohino have beon specially selected owing to their combining substance and high quality, and they should prove a groat acquisition to the Mount Vernon ■ stud. .

Tho “ star” of tho quartette is that i Brand six-year-old bay more White 'Silk, oho of the greatest show mares in Scotland. She was bred by Mr W. Dunlop, «t Durunuir Stains, Ayr, her site being Baton of Buchlyrio (11,263), her dam Duchew of York (15,611), whoso sire was Flashwood (3661). White Silk is now in foal to that fine stallion Moutravo Stop (19,658). She has a fine show record. As a throe-year-old she swept tho board in Scotland, hoc record being:— First and champion at Hamilton, East Kilbride, Biggar, Forth, Lanark, and Douglas. As a four-year-old, second, Highland and Agricultural Society’s show, 1909; first and champion, Douglas. As a five-year-old, first, Lanark, As a six-year-old, second, Kilmarnock; third, Ayr; fourth, Glasgow. Mr Harding’s second string is ' Prido of Craigte Mains, a big stylish three-year-old bay mare showing great quality —just the type required for New Zealand, She has never been shown and is now in foal to Champion Oynma. She was bred by Mr John Grey, of Wateratone, being by Baden Powell (10.963), put of Jean of Wateretone (19,673), by Hiawatha (10,067). In . Ouiidrennna Mr Harding is introducing a fine two-year-old coll. very powerful, good colour, with splendid feat and pastern®, whilst his action would be hard to beat

Dundee n nan was purchased from tho well-known breeders Messrs A. W. Montgomery, of Netherhall and Banks, Kirkcudbright, his siro being Everlasting (11,331) and bis dam Ardlothan Eva (17,590), by Sir Everard (5353). Mr Harding’s fourth purchase ia Dimrod Sensation, a grand yearling bred by Hr Robert Allen, of Howwell, Kirkcudbright. This colt has tho makings of a great show horse. Ho has beautiful hair, feet and pasterns, aud is exceptionally well grown. To his breeding no exception can bo taken, for ho is by Lord Leith (14.2 U) out of that grand mare Golden Lady (14,517), whoso siro was Gold Mine,
