EMPIRE DAY
PLEA FOR UNITED CELEBRATION By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. SYDNEY, May 25. Sir Joseph Carruthors, ex-Premier of New South "Wales, speaking at the Empire League’s dinner, made reference to Cardinal Moran’s attitude towards Empire Day. England, Ireland, Scotland, and Australia, ho said, each had special days on which they held celebrations in honour of God. There should be a day, however, in all parts of the Empire which they should celebrate together. Cardinal Moran should remember, said Sir Joseph, that priests who were subjected to persecution in foreign countries always found security under tho British flag.
