BOARD OF GOVERNORS MEETS. Tho Board of Governors of Wellington College and the Girls’ College held its monthly meeting yesterday, there weio present; Messrs A. de B. Brandon (chainman), A. Warburton. Tho present bank bala nee, with cash in hand, totalled .£1 </:> 18s 3d, from which had to bs_ deducted tho payments required, -£Lil 4s JU (.£538 17s 4d at Wellington College and <£1343 7s scl at the Girls College). Outstanding fees represented .£B6i 11s id {.£140 19s lOd at Wellington College and .£726 11s Oil at the Girls’ College). Outstanding rents totalled £3!B loa It was explained that the outstanding fees at the Girls’ College included the amount due for free place pupils, £mj3 fend. The payments required for tho Uirls College * included the Government advance of o£lCoo on account of the new building, which sura. was also included in the bank balance at the end of tno. mouth. , . , A letter was received from the ass.stant Inspector-General of Schools stating that the Education Department caul a see no reason why two pupils at Wei* lington College, who resided respectively at New Pivmouth and Carterton, should rot hold thei rfreo places as well as private scholarships. The letter was in reply to a query from the board. On tho motion of Mr Lee the board decided to ask for a report as to how far tho reorganisation in the equipment ot the two colleges had been earned out. Plans wero received from the board s architects. Messrs Penty and Blake, for a new dairy at the Boys* College. The plane were drawn to suit tho requiiemonts of the Health Department, the cost being estimated at <£loo. Consideration of tho plans was deferred* with a view to their modification.
