THE YBAE’S PEOGEBSS. The adoption of the annual report (which has already been published), was moved by the chairman, who remarked that the men who for long had done bo much for Association football during the past year, seen some reward for their sacrifices and efforts.. The P os i* . c J“ (w? the game now occupied was better than it haxi ever been. The Prospeota for the future were never better., (Applause). The association was connected with a _game «u., f eoine to crow m New Aeaiana, despite the fact that it had strong opponents. Tho fact that the association had 225 teams playing under its auapioea mas n. canse for great gratification. ( •» “ Uis of - the 4 game 'good progress was being made, ft ™ ™ j worthy that at last there was a ,prospeot of the New Zealand Assocmtion bemg . represented on the British FootbaU Council. He was. sure, they would ■ b°tofbbs find a better representative than Mr Gibbs. The chairman concluded with eaco to the good work done the officers, particularly the secretary , Mx B.L. Salmon. The association was very fortu nate in having so enthusiastic an officer. The motion was seconded by, Mr J- JEoberta, who “id ' it W ins to the old members to note the great progress that was being made, and especially the way. in which the game was be. ing taken up by the .boys. He_ was ot opinion that the time was now pppot tune for 'a forward move, Hud suggested that fcho xieadmaßters' of the public schools of 'Wellington should bo approached with a view to ascertaining if they- would give tho association four Saturdays the end of'tho season, and so find out whether the bovs would prefer to p-ay the Awsocia u n game. They should really ask to bo allowed to run a knock-out tourney, as had been done once before. ; , " - • The chairman said this natter tad already been attended to, as the Wellington. boys' committee had been authorised to! arrange, it possible, for a schools com petition at the end of the season. They felt that this was the moment to be up and doing, and were anxious to bo doing at ones. , A , Tho motion was adopted. , BROWN SHIELD MATCHES. During a discussion which arose over the adoption of the balance-sheet, Mr A. Williams (Wellington) suggested that the time had come when the New Zealand Council should run the Brown Shield matches. It was not right 1 that one centre should have all the work, as was the case with the ■Wellington Association last -year. , It could be managed by haying a representative of the New Zealand Association in each province, when the shield was away from Wellington. . Mr Salmon said he failed to see how one representative in every centre could do the work that would be expected of him under such a scheme. The balance-sheet was adopted. OFFICERS ELECTED. Office-bearers for the ensuing year were elected as follow:—Patron, Lord Islington; president. Sir Joseph -Ward; vicepresidents, Messrs F. J. Courtenay, S. W. Thornton and P. L. NEW TROPHY. The offer of Messrs Pottitt and Dudley, of Palmerston North, to donate a cup rained at ten guineas for competition under cup-tie rules, was accepted with hearty thanks,' and it wa-s decided that the trophy should be known ?.a tho New Zealand Football Association Cup. Mr Roberts suggested that tho competition should be run on* lines something as follow:—Club winners in. the different centres to be first determined, winners in adjoining centres then to play, off, the final to bo played between the winning team in tho North Island-and South Island respectively., Thus, ho explained, the travelling required would bo reduced to a minimum. It was decided to recommend tho new council to begin tbo competition this year if possible, and to arrange to play the final in Palmerston North if convenient to -the teams engaged. Messrs Roberts. Salmon and Wood were appointed a eub-coramitteo to draw, up rules for the competition. • NEW SOUTH WALES TOUR.
