The Government steamer Hinemoa re- 1 turned ■to Wellington early yesterday afternoon from her trip to Pitt Island and Waitangi (Chatham Islands), The run from Lyttelton to the Ohathaxns- was favoured by fine weather. At Pitt Island the settlers were running very short of stores, and were glad to get their supplies replenished by the Hinemda. On the pas* <?ags from Waitangi to ' Wellington the vessel encountered dirty’i weather and heavy seas. The Hinemoa is to leave Wellington early on Tuesday morning for the lighthouses at .. The southerly gal© last night compelled four of the smaller coastal steamers to put back to their berths at Wcllineton after proceeding to the: entrance. The Opawa for Picton, Hula for Wansranui, Aorere for Patea, and Kirlpaka for Patea, all returned to the wharf between 8.30 o’clock add 10 o’clock last night. The Blenheim, being unable to sail last night, will leave Wellington at 5 p.m. to-day for Picton instead of Blenheim, as the Wairau bar is unworkable. WAITEMATA DUB THIS EVENING. The Waitemata (from Calcutta via Auck* land) passed East Cane at 3.15 p.m. yesterday en route to Wellington.
