ACCIDENT AT THE SLIP
Mr John Paterson, .who' has been, in charge of the Wellington Patent Slip for several" years, suffered severe iujuriesto his lower jaw while supervising wort at the slip'at ,5 p.m. bn Thursday. Mr Paterson Was watching one of the workmen knocking a steel wedge out in ‘connection, with the overhaul of the Greymouth dredge "Mawbera, when the wedge suddenly, flew "out" and. struck’ Mr Paterson on iho chin. His jaw was ,badly fractured and medical aid was urgently needed. Dr. Collins was summoned, and after attending 'to : Mr Paterson’s injuries the latter was" taken to a private Lospitijl. On inquiries , last evening: Mr Paterson- was ..reported to be doing' as well as could be expected under the circumstances. Mr Paterson has a very wide circle of acquaintances in , the engineering and shipping world, who will rcgrct ta-learu of the mishap.
