DRURY LANE GALA
“MONEY,” BY COMMAND A BRILLIANT GATHERING OF NOTABLES. By Tel eprant—Press Assoc!;,-lon-Go pyriuhl (Received May 18, 10.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 18. The command performance of the late Lord Lytton’s play “Money” took place at Drury Lane Theatre last night. There was a crowded audience, people, waiting in a queue from noon yesterday in order to, gain admission. The scene in the theatre was a brilliant one. Drapings of white cloth wore fringed with festoons of crimson dowers, and the boxes wore outlined with real red tulips, the stalls being similarly treated with carnations. King George arid Queen Mary, with the Emperor, and Empress of Germany, and their suites, occupied a special box, taking in half the dress circle. The ladies made a wonderful display of jewels. Mr Seymour painted a special surprise scene depicting Ring George and the Kaiser with the dove of peace hovering above them. Sir Squire Bancroft was stage manager.
