THE PLAGUE CASES
WEEKLY BULLETINS TO BE ’issued. The Deportment of Public Health hat decided to issue weekly bulletins regarding the cases of plague in Auckland, and copies of the. bulletin will be sent throughout New Zealand to Mayors of the principal centres,, chamnen of har- , bour boards, chairmen of medical associations, Consuls for foreign: countries and bttioars of the department, and the information will also bo communicated to the Director of the Australian Commonwealth. Deportment of Health. During the period from March 20 th to May 6tn'notification was given of seven cases of plague, of which tour remained under treatment on May Gtli. Between January Ist and May bth 383 rats were examined in Auckland, and of that number four were found to be plague-infected and four others were suspected to be infected. The last infected rat was found on May 6th. The bulletin for the week ending on Saturday last states that one patient was discharged, leaving three under treatment, forty-five rats were examined, and. all of them were, found to be free of plague’ 1 bacilli.
