Captain and Mrs Hamilton -are leaving by the Tainui to-day for a short visit to England. Mr and Mrs Coomb (Makuri) are staying at the Royal Oak. Mrs Waldegravo (Palmerston), who had been visiting England, returned by the lonic. Mrs Ballard, who has just returned from Dunedin, will spend a few days in Wellington before leaving for Auckland, where she will spend the winter. Miss D. Smith and Miss Thruston (Wanganui) aro leaving for England by tho Tainui. ■ Mr and Mrs Monokton (Otaki), who arrived last night, are staying at the Royal Oak. Miss Lloyd Hassell is leaving to-day for Timaru. Mr and Mrs Tatton Fraser (Tane) aro on a visit to Wellington. Miss Sylvia Fell (Nelson) is visiting Wellington. Mr and Mrs Horner (Patea), Who arrived yesterday, are staying at tht Cecil. ■ Mr and Mrs W. Pearce, who have been on a holiday visit to Australia, returned by the lonic, and. are staying at the Cecil. Mr and Mrs Hugh Beetham (Branoepeth), accompanied by Mrs Norman Beetham, returned to Masterton yesterday. ■ Miss Atkinson (Nelson) is visiting Wellington. The. Misses Balfour (Timaru) are staying at the Cecil. Miss Vallance and her niece, Miss Bennett, are visiting Wellington. Mr and Mrs Hamish Wilson (Bulls) are leaving for England by the Tainui. Mrs Baird (Bramerton, Masterton) is on a visit to Wellington. Miss Hislop (Inglewood) is the guest of Mrs Shirtcliffe. ' Mrs J. B. Pascoe (Palmerston North) is visiting Wellington, and is staying at the Royal Oak. , Invitations will shortly be issued for tho Star Boating Club’s ball, which is to be held in the Sydney street schoolroom on the 20th of next month. The variety entertainment which was repeated last night at Kilhirnio at O’Donnell’s Hall (under the direction of Miss Easson) was a pronounced success. Unlike many amateur performances everything went with finished smoothness, and the excellent programme was thoroughly enjoyed by. all. Tho pleasant contrast of the first part of the programme to the pic turesquo setting of the gipsy camp was much appreciated. Miss Easson is to be congratulated upon the success of the entertainment. • The following members of J. C. Williamson’s “Whip” Company are staying at the Albert Hotel:—Mr R. Stewart, Mr O. Berkeley, Mr and Mrs Manning, Miss Emma Temple, Miss Fyfe Alexander. Miss Georgia O’Meara, Mr Lionel Atwill.
