SITTINGS IN MASTERTON. SPECIAL TO THE "TUtES." MASTERTON,, March 28. The sittings of the Supremp Court wero continued to-day before his Houor tho Chief Justice Sir Robert Stout. Henry Walker was brought up for sentence on a charge of breaking into the house of Eliza. Jane James at Mangatamoka and stealing jewellery to the value of JH ss. Twelve months'' imprisonment. was imposed. John Jackson, charged with having indecently assaulted three young girls at Pahintua last month, also came up for sentence, and was committed to gaol for twelve months. Leo Barker was charged with having set fire to a house in Masterton, occupied by a womau named Maggie Young, on March Gth, 1909. The jury, after forty minutes' retirement, brought in a -verdict of guilty with a strong recommendation to mercy. Hie Honor remanded accused till to-morrow for sentence, stating that had Barker pleaded guilty ho would have been admitted to probation. In divorce a decree niei was granted in the case of Jesse Donaldson, labourer, of Westport, v. Maria Donaldson, of Masterton, on tho grounds of adultery and drunkenness. Discharges from bankruptcy were granted in the following cases; Robert Huston Campbell (Hastwcll), George Cork (Wellington). Leonard Alfred Wilton (Masterton), Albert Webb (Masterton), Augustus Ernest Williams (Etetahuna). Eraser Mana Ross (Mauricoville), William Ayson (Masterton), James McKenzie (Manrioeville), Charles Gurote (Masterton).
