NEW STEERING ENGINES TO BE OBTAINED. By Telegraph—Frees Association—Gw., right . MELBOURNE, March 20. Tho Federal Government is communicating with the Admiralty architects with reference to the defects in tho destroyers’ steering gear. Now steering engines are to bo obtained from, England. ■ EXPERTS PUZZLED. MELBOURNE, March 20.' Experts are completely puzzled oved the destroyers’ defects. Alterations were made in the steering gear, hut,without effect. Tho engineers aie carefully examining each part in the effort to, discover tho cause of the 'trouble. -It is stated that similar difficulties have occurred in the same class of heats in - England. 1 DISAPPOINTMENT AT SYDNEY. (Received March 21, 0.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 30. Owing to the defects in the destroyers' steering gear their visit to Sydney has been postponed. Great preparations had been made for an official welcome on Wednesday, and much disappointment is felt at the postponement.
