SECULAR EDUCATION
(To. the Editor "N.Z. Times.") Sir, —In your issue of to-day a correspondent describes the Roman Catholic institution as “the most ancient and historic church of Christendom." Let me tell him this, that there is no similarity between that institution and the early Christian Church, from which it long ago departed by introducing man-made laws and unecriptural forms and ceremonies. Hence the rise of Protestantism, which may bs correctly defined as a reversion to early Christian teachings. Why, therefore, should State aid be given to Roman Catholic schools to encourage them in fostering and perpetuating an anti-Christian system—a system which, according to prophecy, is destined to end in "a day/* as did ancient Babylon. As a fact, the Government dare not. oven if they would, grant State aid to Roman Catholic schools. The best way to prevent such a calamity is for all Protestants and
lovers of the Gospel to have their children taught a thorough knowledge of history.—! am, etc., DM-CIEL. March 20th.
