MOTOR CYCLE TESTS

RESULTS OP RELIABILITY-RUN TO WANGANUI. The motor cycle trials which took place on March 10th and lltb, under tho auspices of the New Zealand Motor Cycle Club, can only bo regarded as highly satisfactory. The course was to Wanganui, via Peildlng and Marton, on the first day, and return via Bulls and Palmerston on the second day,, the total distance being 510 miles, and when tho condition of ths, roads, consequent on the prolonged dry weather, is taken into account, it must bo’ admitted that the test was an unusually severe one (> on both machines and riders- Thirty-seven entries wore received, and thirty-one competitors started. Of these only one fell out on the way to Wanganui, and three on the return journey; all of these, however, discontinued the run only because they considered they had lost some points, and could gain nothing by completing the course. Excellent weather conditions were experienced, and tho motorists report s having had a most enjoyable trip. At Wanganui they were the guests of the club at a dinner provided at Chevannes’-Hotel. The petrol consumption test was carried out on the return journey between Otaki and Wellington, and In this was included the hill climbing competition on Paekakariki Hill. Tho club desires to thank Messrs Turner and Co., of Wanganui, for their kindness in placing their garage at its disposal for the purposes of a control; also Mr W. J. Row, of Otaki, for his services in connection with the filling and sealing of tanks for the petrol consumption test. The following are the results of the tests: PRIVATE OWNERS’ CLASSES.
