BAGHDAD RAILWAY
AMENDED CONCESSION
GERMANY’S INTEREST IN PERSIAN
GULF SECTION.

The Porto has agreed to allow the Baghdad Railway Company to extend the line to Baghdad. The company renounccs a lieu of 4 per cent, increase in the Customs duties, receiving instead a security upon the Empire s general revenues. The company builds a branch line from Osmanieh to Alcxandrctta and constructs a harbour at Alexandretta. Reuter's Constantinople agent reports that tho company lias agreed, to the Porte arranging for the construction of tho Baghdad- Persian Gulf section of the lino on the basis of Germany, having equal participation with any other foreign Power.
