THE MASTERTON SHOW
To tho majority of people tho jumping; competitions are among tho most interesting features of a show. At tho coming show of the Masterton A. and P. Association they promise to be of more than usual interest. The prizes arc liberal, and there is everv * reason.. to believe that the entries will bo exceptionally good. More timo has been devoted recently to tjie training of the horses, and each year lias. witnessed a marked improvement in their performances. It is safe to predict that the competitions this year will be the fino't that have ever boon seen i'n Mastertc-ii. Prises amounting to .614 are offered in the Maiden .Tumping Competition, while in tho Hunters' Leaping Compnti'tion a. total of .£3O is offered and a valuable challenge cup. The Champion .Tumping Competition will, without doubt, be the event of the day, and for this the splendid total of ,£BS is offered in nrizes, probably the biggestsum that has" ever been offered at any show in New Zealand, For the horses that have not been miccessfnl there is the Consolation .Tump, for which prizes amounting to ,£27 nrei offered. The entries close this "week, and should be more than usuallv large.'
