The Puponga ' Coal and Goldmining Co., N.Z, Ltd., reports as follows:—For the year ending December 3rd tho mine worked the whole of the working days, except two davs through stress of weather and seven hours through failure of machinery. The total output of coal for the year, was 30 373 tons, compared with 16,686 tons in 1909, an increase of 13,686 tone. The average number of men employed was seventv-three, compared with an average of sixty-four in 19.9. The total shipping for tho year was 20.807 tons, compared with 11654 tons in 1909, showing an increase of 9152 tons. No fatal accidents took place during the year, but seventeon accidents of a minor nature occurred. During the vear a duplex Tangye pump was installed to cope with the water in the lower levels, capacity 10.000 gallons per hour. The lower level? are opening out in a ho->y of very hard bright coal, eight feet thick, and very ?nperior in ottalftv to anything seen in' the mine previously, and alto, gether the prospects for the future are verv promising.
