Matthews discovered the ambush, and, by some clever manoeuvring, surrounded and captured it. At Wednesday's meeting the troop was addressed on the Scout Law by Scoutmaster Sullivan, of New Plymouth. One <A the Rotorua troops is comprised of fourteen Ohinemuiri Maoris. Among the good turns done by Rotorua Scouts is assisting crippled people arriving at the famous health resort. A drum and pipe band is being fm by Napier Scouts. Many of the i ments have been donated by leading citir zens. Six telescopes have arrived for NewPlymouth Scouts. They axe to be distributed next month. The West Coast camp at Totara Flat waa a great success. Over a hundred boya were under canvas. A troop of cyclists has been enrolled by Scoutmaster Arthur, of Dunedin. The movement is making remarkable progress in America. Fifteen thousand boys were enrolled in less than three months in. one State alone. The Mayor of and M.P. for Napier, Mr J. Vigor Brown, is a very gTeat. supporter of scouting. He has made presentations of uniforms and bugles, and has lately offered to take the whole battalion of eighty-five Scouts across the harbour in his own launch for a day's outing.
