The Misses Blermerhassett. (Wanganui), who have been spending a week in. Wellington, have returned to "Wanganui.
Miss Hargreaves (Christchnrch) is staying at the Ko3'al Oak.
Miss TJrquhart (Blenheim), who has been spending a week in Wellington, returned home yesterday.
Mr Alan (Wanganui) is in Wellington, staying at the Hotel Windsor.
Miss Kettle (Napier), who has been on a trip to England, has returned.
Dr Boor, accompanied by his niece, returned to Greytown yesterday.
The engagement is announced of Miss Mabel Oiinond, daughtir of Mr George Ormoiid. and graiid-diuijrlitcr of the Hon. J. D. Ormoud. -\upier, to Dr Millar, of Wairoa.
Mrs L. Knell, who went to Feathcrston for the funeral of her brother. Mr J. r. Tocker, is staying with Mist, Tocker.
Miss Irene Knell has returned to the Ilutt from Featherston.
After making an extensive tour of Canterbury Misses LL-ic ami Olive Richards, of Masterton, arrived in Wellington by the Mararoa on Thursday moruaig. They spend a few day,? here prior lo their return to the Wairarapa.
At St. Peter's Church on Wednesday, iliss Clara Louisa King, only daughter vi the late Mr Rdwin J. King, was married to Mr William Inmaii Davis, uf Eaeti'hi, the Veu. Archdeacon Harper officiating. The wedding gown was of white muslin, with insertions of Valenciennes lace, and satin belt- The orthodox wreath and veil was also woin. The bridesmaids were Misses Rcdforth (Brooklyn.) ami Mavis Hi:-,a (niece f the bride), in pink tafl'cta and pink silk, with hats to match. Mr Hector D:lvis, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Master Arthur Baldwinson (Biooklyn) gioomsmaii. Mr Len T. King gave the bride away. The reception was held at Godber's, where the usual toasts were honoured.

As the theatre-goin? world knows, the dressing in "The Merry Widow" is always chic Miss Florence Young ns Sonia wore exquisite "owns. That in the firsc act was a becoming white satin veiled with silver t:'*=ue and handsome silver fringe, an effective touch of colour being given by the bunch of pink roses at her waist. Her gown in the last act was a triumph in black and gold, with which' she wore a vivid emerald green cloak and hat. Miss Olive God-win's gowns, too, were beautiful, that in-the first act being a rose pink satin with overdress of chiffon and opalescent trimmings.
At Greytown on Thursday Mr James Archer, second son of the late Mr John Archer, of Clareville. was married to Miss Grace Evelyn Thomas, " second daughter of Mr M. Thomas, of Moron. Miss Muriel Archer was bridesmaid, and Mr Charles Archer best man.
The Woods' string band will play at the Bellevue Gardens to-morrow afternoon. Owing to the rain they were forced to disappoint those who attended the gardens on Sunday last.
