The Warrimoo, due early this morning from Melbourne and k ,Hobart via south, is to berth at No. 1, north (outer tee). The New Zealand Shipping- Company’s liner Opawa is proceeding from Waitara direct to Picton. where she will remain until after Boxing Day. .The vessel will afterwards go to Wanganui roadstead and then to Wellington. ■ , . The Koonya, due at Wellington to-dav from Timaru, is to leave here to-morroW for Akaroa to act as tender for the Maori next Tuesday. x . tons of coal and about a ton of timber for this port. She left Newcastle on Friday at 4 p.m., had a fair passage across tue Tasman “&a. The Moeraki was sighted on Monday afternoon about 1.15 o'clock. The Kurow was to leave Westport at 2 o’clock this morning for Wellington. The Kini will follow her at 2 p.m. to-day. The Waimea called off tbe Wellington entrance at 5.30 p.m. from Gisborne and was ordered on to Westport. The Tyser liner Muritai sailed from London last Friday for Wellington, via Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland and Napier. She is due here about February 22nd. The Strathleven, from New York, is to leave Wellington at 11 a.m. to-day for Lyttelton and Dunedin with remainder or cargo.

Tho Storm is due at Wellington to-day from Lyttelton, and is to proceed from here to Wanganui and Greymouth. The Maoriland Company’s new' steamer Lauderdale is expected to leave the Clyde next March for New' Zealand.

Ihe Otaki, due at Wellington this evening from Bluff, is to berth at King's wharf for Homew’ard loading. She will proceed next to Timaru.

The crew of the Putlki were paid off yesterday, as the vessel lays up at Wellington until after the holidays. The Ngaru arrived at Lyttelton from Wellington on Tuesday, and went on the slip there for an overhaul on Wednesday. She is expected to sail to-morrow for Wellington. The Mapourika left Westport at noon yesterday for Greymouth, but owing to heavy seas on the Grey bar there was no chance of the vessel making port last evening. The Hinemoa, which arrived at Cape Maria lighthouse yesterday morning, is to remain there until to-morrow, when she will proceed to Mangonui for Christmas. The Ennerdale. which Is loading timber at Greymouth, has been delayed owing,to shortage of .trucks, and is expected to leave to-morrow' for Sydney. Mr S. C. Chamberlain joined the Defender as engineer yesterday in place of Mr J. Ewing. Mr J. Taft, the second mate, signed off the articles yesterday. The Westport Coal Company's steamer Rcgulus is to leave the Wellington patent slip at noon to-day for Nelson, where she will be given an overhaul by the Anchor Foundry Company. • The Holmdal© has been delayed by bad weather at Karamea. and was expected to leave for Westport and Sydney last evening.

The fortnightly general meeting of the Merchant Service Guild is to he held at 12.15 p.m. to-day. The Blackball Company’s collier Ngatoro has been doing some smart -work of late. She left Wellington at 6.40 p.m. last Friday for Greymouth, and left that port at midnight on Saturday with a full load of coal for Lyttelton. The vessel left Lvttelton at midnight on Wednesday for Greymouth., and is to leave that' port to-day for Wellington. The Drayton Grange, now loading at Waitara, is to proceed via Wanganui roadstead to Wellington, where she is due next Sunday. She will leave here on Thursday for Avonmouth. The Westport Coal Company lias been advised by cable that the steamer Roserlc may arrive at Wellington «at any time now from River Plate to replenish her bunkers. ‘ ' SUSSES FOM LIVERPOOL. The Fcderal-Houlder-Shire liner Sussex, from Liverpool via Las Palmas, Capetown, and Sydney, arrived at Wellington early yesterday morning, and subsequently berthed at the Taranaki street wharf. The vessel left Liverpool on October 15th, and had a. fine weather passage to Las Palmas, where she armed ou the 22nd.' The collision with the Newstead at Las Palmas reported by cable, considerably damaged the Sussex’s bows, and she was detained at Las Palmas until October 27th. Pine weather and practically no north-easterly trades prevailed. The south-easterly trades were met with in latitude 1 degree south, and increased till crossing 28 degrees south. Then a moderate gale and high seas were encountered. The Sussex arrived at Capetown on Novem- ; bor 15th, and sailed again on the 16th. Fine ; weather prevailed tilP about three days’ steaming west of Cape Leuwin, followed ; by strong westerly gales, during which the vessel lost a blade from her propeller. The galeS soon abated, and moderate weather .prevailed to Sydney, where the Sussex arrived on the 12th instant. The Sussex left Sydney last Friday, and had fine weather for the first two days; then strong northwesterly winds with high seas lasted till nearing Farewell Spit, The passengers number 12 saloon and 50 steerage, the list having been* published recently.
