CIVIL SERVICE CLUB, : The report to be submitted to tho annual meeting of tho Civil Service Sports Club, to bo hold on Friday nexs statca that the membership shows a slight decrease compared with last year, duo to a thorough revision of the roll having taken place. The - membership at present elands at 76, 34 new members having been elected during the sea-son. The club held an afternoon sports meeting on February 19th, and the gathering proved highly successful, though the attendance of the public did not come up to expectations. An -evening meeting was also held during the season, and was well supported by local runners, largo entries being received for tho various events. Owing to the clubs in other centres being unable to furnish the necessary teams, it was found '.imposs’.blo to hold a Civil Service championship, but it Is hoped that the interest in : that direction will not be allowed to drop, and that arrangements for a championship meeting will be entered into immediately it is found possible to obtain the cooperation of the other Civil Service clubs in tho Dominion. In the "Wellington provincial championships the club met wth a good deal of success. W. A. Woodger winning tho ICO vards and 220 yards chainptenships, J. F, Wilson tho half-mile, and P. 0. Hubbard tho long jump. The club V*as represented at tho New Zealand championships by Woodger. Hubbard, and Wilson. Tho former was successful m tho 100 vards and 220 yards championships, and Hubbard in tho long jump, while Wilson was beaten by a narrow margin in the half-mile. During the season Messrs H. .E. Bust (hon treasurer) and I. E. Foot (hou. auditor) resigned their positions through ill-health, Mr P. J. McGovern being elected to fill the vacancy caused by Mr Foot's resignation. Tho balance-sheet shows the finances of lhe club to be in a satisfactory position, there being a credit balance of £8 9a 4d. an increase of £1 14s 7d on the previous year.
