Tho complimentary musical evening tcMrs M. Sutclufe lust nipht ut the Oouceit Chamber was,iu every way successful. The hall was filled to overflowing with an enthusiastic and appreciative audience, and the programme was m* teresting. Immense pains had been takea by the members of the committee to ensure, the, success of the concert,‘and great 'crcd.t is due to them for the.ir cnterprisCi . It must have been very pleAsant to -Mrs Sutcliffe (who has aUvays j>eeu a generous heluenJat benefit concerts and entertainments) to see h'ow much her blandly, efforts, in -the. past, had boon appreciated. The Concert Chamber had been beautifully dee-orated. Messes of yellow broom and Nile lilies formed an artistic background for ( the , performers. . Th; front of th© stage was also a colour scheme in yellow and. white—big_ bowls of Nile lilies .and broom artistically grouped, amongst palms and cabbage trees.- Mr on behalf of the committee, thanked-the performers for their generous response, and requested that Mrs Sutcliffe would, favour, the 'amlioncr with.a recitation. At £he conclusion of her recitation Mrs Sutcliffe was ‘present cd t ith two charming bouquets by little Miss Coull. At*the conclusion of the programme refreshments -were-hand ed round.
