TARGETS FOR TO-DAY. SommerviUe Range (200 and 500yds).— D. Battery I—3, Dominion Scouts 18 —19, Victoria College O.T.C. 20-21, College Rifles 22 —23, Zealnndia Rifles 24 —23, Hutt Valiev Rifles 26—27, Reserve 16—17. Seddon Range (800 and 900yds).—Post and Telegraph Rifles I—4,1 —4, Reserve 5 —6. NOVEMBER TARGETS. Tho distances to be fired over during November have been fixed as follow :—? Post and Telegraph Rifles detailed, for duty. November 19th.—Collins Range 209 and 550, Sommorville 200 and GOO, Seddou 800 and 900 (Zealandia Rifle?). November 26th.—Collin? and Summerville Ranges 209, 500 and 600, Seddon 900 and ICOOyds. RALSTON TARGETS. ’■ The SommerviUe range is being gradually equipped with Ralston sliding targets. ’ Already twelve of these targets are worked every Saturday, and. an additional six went out yesterday. These will be erected in the course of a few days and Colonel Collins hopes to have seven more up by the end of November. The range will be then completely equipped with this class of target. It is net the intention of the authorities to provide the Collins range with Ralston targets. This range will be kept exclusively for short range matches, while both the SommerviUe and Seddon ranges will be available for shooting up to 1000yds. KARORI GLEB. A special meeting of the Karori Rifle Club was held at tho Drill Hall. Buckle street, last evening, President ”H. Marshall occupying the chair. There were twenty members present. The main business was the consideration, of. the standards for club competitions, and a long discussion took place on the question generally. It was finally decided to adhere to the old - standard of 65 (fourteen shots) for the 200 and 500yds ranges —33 at 200yds and 32 at SOOvds, The 600yds standard was increased iroin 30 to' 31; 809yds; "SO to' 31; 900yds. 26 .to 28; and 1000yds, 24 to 26. The same proportion will stand for ten shot matches. The president and deputy president were instructed to interview the Trentham range committee, with a view t 6 provision being mhdo during tho season for shooting at 300yds. The president explained that the leading officers of all tlie rifle clubs in and around # the city and suburbs had held a meeting to discuss the clubs' representation on the Garrison. Rifle Association, and arrangements had been made for a deputation to wait on the association in reference to the matter, at the .annual meeting on Friday next. The president informed tho meeting that the Colonial Ammunition' Company had decided to donate a shield, to be fired for at the Trentham championship meeting, the competition, being open to rifle clubs only. The* president and Mr Field, M.P., have been asked to draw up, the'terms of the competition. RANGITIKEX MEETING. A rifle meeting , will ’be held on the Rangitikei Club’s range at Bulls on November 9bh. Matches will be fired at 200 . 500 and 600yds, seven shots at each, with on© optional sighter. The prizes in each match will be; First, <£3 ; second, ,£1 10s; two of 15s; three of 10s; and four <sf os, making a total of. .£8 10s at each range. The highest scores at the three ranges will carry aggregate prizes ns follow-; First, .£10; second, .£4; third, £3; two- of £ 1; four of 10s. ■- '* v -\, There will bo no affiliation fee imposed. Nomination' for all matches will cost oCI. .Entries will not be accepted if not accompanied by the fee. No entries will'be taken on the day of shooting. The shield matches will be commenced at Trentham next Saturday and con. tinued on November 26th. There will b© three matches for senior, junior and third-class teams. Points will be allotted as follows‘.—First, 3; second, 2, third, 1. Only men on the Active List will be allowed to fire. Nominations close seven days ‘before each match. Ranges, 200, 500 and 600 yards, seven shots and one optional sighter at each distance Classification ; Senior Companies— r /3> V Wellington Navals, City Rifles, Guards. Third-class Companies—Permanent Artillery, No. 3 (Electric Light) Company G.A.V., Heretaunga-'Mounted Rifles, Kelburne Rifles, Cycle Corps. Companies may fir© a team in a grade lower than that for which they are classified, provided their team also fires in their own grade.
