A LAWYER'S LETTER
NORTHERN SOLICITOR CALLED UPON TO "SHOW CAUSE." TO COME BEFORE APPEAL COURT. In the Court of Appeal yesterday, menltdon was made of the proceedings instituted by the Auckland District Law Society calling- upon a solicitor practising in Auckland city to show cause why he should not be dealt with under tho punitive clauses of the Law Practitioners Act, 1908. \ Mr A. AV. Blair (Chapman, Skenett, Wylie. and Tripp) appeared for tho solicitor, ill question, Mr J". F. Pullen, and explained that the proceedings concerned the sending of a letter by Mr Pullen to another Auckland solicitor. Application for the issue of a rule nisi had been made, w-ithin the past day or two, to Mr Justice Sim. in Auckland, and the judge had roferred the matter to the Court of Appeal. It was particularly desired that the Court of Appeal should consider the case at the present sitting, because, othertwise, the delay that mu.it ensue, if the matter were not disposed of until the April session, might haro some permanent effect upon Mr Pullen's health. Mr Justice Cooper -• He has not been suspended? The matter has merely been referred to the Court of A.ppeal? Mr Blair: That is so. your Honor. It was arranged that the case would be taken on Monday nest, Mr Blair intimating that, in all probability, the Auckland Law Society would be able to be represented here on'that day.
