THE DERBY WINNER
~S ar> ~l would like to call your attention, to the *rror in the cable result of the English Derby, which no doubt vou. have noticed yourself. The winner, Lernberg, is by Cyllene out of Galicia, and not by Marco out of Chelaiidrr. Lord Bosebery's Neil Goiv is by .Marco out of Shelandry. . Galicia was also the dam of Bayardo. Galicia ran third for the Oaks, iron by Limasol. I believe it was in Galteo Morc's year. Galicia by
having a sou winning a classic race in two successive years equals Mr Croker's famous mare Ehoda B-, whose son Orby won the Derby, and in the following year her daughter Rhodora won the Thousand Guineas, and she might have won the Oaks if she had not fallen when iiguorotta won. J. W. SPEARMAN.
