H.M.S. NEWCASTLE.

Messrs Armstrong Whitworth and Co., accomplished a record in the construction of the second-class cruiser Newcastle, which was launched on November 35th from their Ekwick yard, with most cf her machinery on board, including the whole of the' boilers, condensers, wing turbines, and auxiliary machinery, and her four funnels erected, whilst the whole of the engine-room and boiler bulkheads and protective deck have been finally riveted up, completed, and water tested. One or two heavy weights viz., the heavy turbines, hare still ,to be lifted on board. As tho actual building of this vessel was only commenced at the end of April, this performance is considered a record in construction of vessels of this class
