GREAT VOTING CONTEST

THE "N.Z. TIMES"

A PRELIMINARY SKIRMISH

OUTPOST CAUSES TROUBLE

BANGS BODMINITES INTO FIRING LINE

MONA WALL CAPTURES FIVE POSITIONS

The accidental discharge of a musket by a startled sentry on the right of the firing-line led to a hot little skirmish last night, with the result that Miss Bodmin was forced into the forefront of the battle. Boused by the noise of comlba-t, Kenneth Aitken fired his riflo and captured the scalp of a sleeping enemy. This incident inspired Mona Wall, who came intrepidly into the open, and, after a brisk skirmish, seized five positions and got within striking distance of the first twenty. E. T. Taylor reached out from his ambuscade, and took in a case of Danville whisky for some of the convalescents in his camp. So matters stand on St. Patriok's Day in the morning. It is quite possible that there will be some exciting developments on the eve of the battle. Meanwhile: 1. BODMIN, MISS MAUD 712,560 2. WEBB, WM 710,645 3. CONNELLY, E. A 701,240 4.
