Island Braes Band Ass*. oration's thirteenth annual contest was commenced this evening, when tho 13 flat soprano cornet and B flat baritone solos wero played. The soprano competition was won by John Trussell (Wanganui Garrison). "Wilkinson (GisboTno City) second, and It. Watson (Manaia Municipal) third. There were ten. competitors. The baritone competition was won by George Jensen (Wanganui Garrison), J. Oosgrove (Gisborne City) second, and Thomas Cole (Nelson ■Garrison) third. There were 6evon /competitors. The weather was very wyst. The B flat and B flat bass solos will be taken in-the morning, there will bo a garden party in the afternoon,, and B flat cornet solos will bo taken in the evening.
