YACHTING

The ocean race of the Port Nicholson, Yacht Club was decided on Saturday. A very light southerly breeze prevailed until the yachts were abreast of Point Jertringham. Here an easterly set in, and then tbe wind came again from the south. This lasted for a good while, and then a uor’westeirly breeze blew for the rest of the day. The result was a win for Janet (scr), from Lizzie, which was given ISmin start of Janet. Taipaxe (20min) finished third, and Waitangi (15min) also started. These were the only contestants. Waitangi dropped out of the race shortly after rounding the mark boat, and came the rest of the journey with the assistance of her engine.. .’ Ishmael proved the winner of the Te Aro Sailing Club's ocean race on Saturday.
