BOYS’ INSTITUTE GARDEN FETE

All arrangements have bean completed for the garden fete this afternoon, the committee having oVen gone_ to the extent of making every provision for wet weather, in arranging to hold the function in the Town Hall should the weather prove too boisterous. Iu the latter evertt, an evening concert will also be provided, and tbe tickets already issued will be available for either, porformauee. A flag will s bo flown from the Town Hall from 10 a.m. onwards in event of the fete being held there. Should fine weather prevail, as is sincerely hoped, the gardens will have a kaleidoscopic effect of colours, all the various assistants bearing distinguishing badges or costumes of a colour douching the stalls or sideshows te which they belong. The various attractions in the shape of amusements, side shows, and stalls, are calculated to give hearty enjoyment to all who attend, and if whole-hearted support goes for anything, the attendance should be a record one. The object of the function, is an exceedingly popular one. as well as bei.'g one which dees not often make calls on the public, and it is already an assured fact that the funds of the Institute will bo strongly augmented by the fete. A telegram was received yesterday from the' Prime Minister expressing regret at bis enforced absence, and extending hearty wishes for- succeas.
