BPICIAI. TO TUB “ TIMES.” MASTERTON, February ». The inaugural show of the FahiatnaAkiteo A. and. P, Association, was held on the Pahiatua racecourse to-day, there being a large gathering from all the surrounding districts. , The show was a pronounced success, and augurs well for the future of the-new society. Fairly good entries wer-e received in each class, and competition was generally keen. In Jerseys some good cattle were shown. In the class,, bull any age, J. B. Nelson was first, and W. H. Booth (Carterton) second. In the class lor bull over ' twelve months and' under twenty months, A. Bdchanan was hast and W. H. Booth, second. W. H. Booth was first in the class for cow any age, A. Buchanan taking second and third prises. A. Buchanan secured premier honours in the heifer class W. H. Booth being second and third. In the dairy class the first prizes wore annexed by J. G. Brechin (two), W. H. Booth (two), and A. Eddie. The entries in sheep were not large, but some fair quality ''iSniimails were shown, in purebred Lincolns there wore only two caasaes. In one, three twotooths, A. Knox was first,- fEere being no opposition; .while in Lincolns (any a®e), (J. Avery was first , and J. ■G. Brechin second. In lanoaln or Lincoln crosses C. Avery secured two firsts, and in longwool or lan-gwool' crosses the same exhibitor took two more firsts .and, a second. Competition in fat sheep was decidedly better than, in the .purebred classes, the first prize winners being IV. E. G. Tylee (two). C. Avery, ana M. Wilton. In fat lambs W. E. G. Tylee secured a first and second, W. D. Taylor a first, and Mias L. Johansen a first.'

Horses were an excellent entry, both as regards mimibens and quality, and some of the animals shown would have done credit to any show ring. " The chief prize winners were as follows: — Best pony (more or gelding, not over 13 hands;. Miss Beatrice Bolton j best pony (nmro or gelding, not over -14 hands), E. Huey’s Guy Fawkes 2; oob, H. E. Hunt's Rebel-l. D. D. Sneddon's Morepork 2 j lady's hack, W. H. Booth’s Brown Stout 1, J. B. Nelson’s Dick 2; mUre most suitable for breeding hacks, P. J. Quirke's Maureen I. J. Sweeney’s Sketch 2; single-harness horse not under 15.2 hands), J. B. Nelson’s Dick 1. P; Stenberg's Darkie 2; single-ha-mese horso (not over X 5.2 hands), W. J. Sedcofe’s Caloola 1, M. Quirke’s Darkie 2; single-harness pony, E. Ryan’s Flirt 1: tradesmen's horse, R. J. J. Elley 1; plough team, C. Avery. In draughts the first prizes wore secured, by C, Avery (2) and the Pahiatua Borough Council (2). Tho beet dairy cow competition was won by E. Wagstaff’s Holstein, who gave 691 b of milk, test 5.4, butter-fat 3.726. McGovern Bros.’ Jersey was second, and E. S. Holdaway third! 1 -- . Considerable interest was taken in the’ competitions, which resulted as follows: —Best boy rider, Cyril McCardle 1, Bert Clarke 2 ; best girl rider, Beatrice Bolton (Kobinui) 1, Catherine Whitcombe (Kaitawa) 2; ladies’ driving competition, Mrs W. Tossw'ill 1, Miss MoTavish 2; pony jump, B. Ryan 1; maiden hunters’ competition, J. Sweeney’s Emblem 1, Captain 'Whyte's Lady Qua 2, J. McTavisVs Lord Ullin 3: steeplechase competition, J. H. MoNiven's Pickpocket 1, J. McTavish’s Lord Ullin 2, Mrs G. Stewart’s Vivace 3; ladies’ hunting competition, S. Bolton’s Scotch Mist (Hidden by, Miss B. Bolton) 1, G. Buchanan’s Review 2; pony competition, J. H. Milne’s Darkie 1; Bert Boyne’s Blossom 2; trotting competition , J. D. Piper’s Old Census 1. W. Adams’s Office Girl 2, C. A. Eendles’s Eleada 3.
